Hello! My name is Jax Carpenter. I am a student at Martin’s Mill High School and an aspiring feature journalist. The idea of “The Martin’s Mill Chronicle” came to me when the head of SMU’s journalism program asked me, “What is a news desert?” As I now know, a news desert is an area that lacks access to credible local news, and then I realized I was living in one. This project seeks to change that fact, telling the stories of Martin’s Mill, one voice at a time.
